Nicoya’s Redress Design Award collection ‘Fusion’ is inspired by the designer’s work environment and her country’s traditional carnival cultural icon, the Jam Bull. She uses textile waste from previous projects, local sail shops, and discarded denim jeans to create multipurpose, versatile garments that evoke the sounds, rhythms, and fluidity of waters and cultural dances. Designing for longevity, Nicoya prioritises comfort to encourage more use from the wearer.
