Frontline Fashion is an award-winning docu-series that follows the most talented emerging fashion designers from all over the globe, who have earned their place as finalists in the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition, the Redress Design Award.
Our award winning documentary series Frontline Fashion is back for its sixth season! This season, our lovely host Taylor R will take you behind the scenes of Redress Design Award 2021 and dive into some key issues of sustainable fashion design. Plus, we’ll get to hear about each of our finalists’ journey in the competition.

In this episode, Taylor R continues her secondhand sourcing journey with Psy Lau in Hong Kong, and catches up with Christina Dean to swap stories about personal experiences with thrifting. Christina meets finalist Kristina Vyzaite in the UK to visit charity TRAID’s sorting warehouse, and British-based designer Lili Sipeki shares her experience in tackling school uniform waste with her multi-functional garments.
Join Taylor R as she rummages through a mountain of discarded clothing with celebrity stylist Denise Ho, to find her outfit for the Grand Final Fashion Show. Our finalists’ collections arrive safely in Hong Kong as we go behind the scenes of the stunning digital-hybrid photoshoot for VOGUE Hong Kong. We meet our remaining finalists – German-born designer Friederike Snelting introduces her winter performance-wear using upcycled production surplus and we explore the zero-waste collections from Jin Pei-Wen and Jessica Chang from Taiwan, and Isabella Li Kostrzewa from USA.
Taylor meets the VOGUE Hong Kong team and the finalists are thrown in the deep end with two immersive challenges that will bring their sustainable design ideas to the forefront. Getting to grips with natural fibres and digital design, the challenges push the finalists to come up with sustainable solutions to improve products and put textile waste to work with our industry partners VF Corp, icebreaker, TAL and Browzwear.
It’s time to face the judges! Our finalists vie to impress the panel of judging experts with the creativity, originality, sustainability and market viability of their collections. Taylor catches up with #RedressDesignAward alumnus and judge, Angus Tsui, at his Hong Kong design studio and Denise joins her for a styling session to put together the perfect preloved outfit for the Grand Final from the secondhand gems sourced in episode 3.
Taylor heads backstage as the grand final fashion show preparation is underway and catches up with our designers as the tension rises! The finalists’ collections come to life on a digital-hybrid runway and we find out who takes home the coveted first prize to collaborate with Timberland.
