Redress Design Award Collection

Luoyuan’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘HIDDEN IN COCOONS’, reflects the endless cycle of life and the magnificence of nature in cocoons, while critiquing the brutality of silk production. The collection is crafted from white and yellow secondhand silk, combined with repurposed quilt covers and handmade paper sheets inserted between the layers to create unique textures. Luoyuan reconstructs secondhand T-shirts into garment fishbone channels and bindings that enhance shape and durability. Designing for low impact materials, he incorporates biofabric made from mulberry leaves and fruit into a corset.
