Redress Design Award Collection

Aya’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘TRASH TALK 2.0’, delves into the idea of ‘trash culture’, a mindset that accepts waste and promotes overconsumption. Her collection breathes new life into discarded materials such as deadstock and textile scraps, with a focus on longevity and recyclability. This involves careful material selection, sorting by type and colour, choosing quality materials, and employing strong construction techniques with a timeless aesthetic. She uses patchwork techniques to integrate scraps of varying sizes: for example, a skirt and shirt formed by joining vintage scarves together, with leggings crafted from fabric scraps.
